Slow Progress In Development Of Social Housing in Clare

There’s been slow progress in the development of social housing projects in Clare.

The government has issued a status report on 11 projects here, but most of those are some way from being completed.

The Department of Housing’s Social Housing Schemes update details progress on 11 projects in Westbury, Sixmilebridge, Ennis, Doonbeg, Feakle, Clonlara, Quilty and Shannon.

A total of 149 units are being built.

Three of those have already come on stream at one location in Ennis, but that was already the case when the first of these reports was published at the end of last year.

Of the remaining ten, construction has started on only one site, at Sixmilebridge.

The remainder are still in various stages of the design or tendering process, and five have shown no progress in the past six months.

There’s been one new social housing project for Clare added to the list in that time, a 1.6 million euro development that has already been announced for the Roslevan area of Ennis.
