There’s been a three percent drop in the number of people on Clare’s Live Register in the past month.
It comes as the number of people on the Pandemic Unemployment Payment in this county also continues to fall.
While the numbers on the Live Register don’t include those on the PUP, there were 149 fewer people signing on in Clare last month compared to April.
4,280 people across the county were listed on the live register for the month of May.
2286 people – more than half – continue to sign on in Ennis.
In West Clare 704 people remain on the live register followed by 702 in North Clare and 588 in the East of the county.
The number of people on the PUP here also continues to fall slowly, as 7,533 people received the support last week, which is the lowest since level five restrictions were imposed in the first week of 2021.
It’s a near 8 percent drop in seven days, and almost half the peak number of people claiming the PUP here in May 2020.
