There has been a slight decrease in the number of households on Clare’s social housing list.
The latest available figures show 2,774 households across the county are in need of local authority housing.
The figure represents a decline of 22 from July, the last month when data was available, when 2,796 families were on the social housing waiting list.
Ennis saw the greatest demand with 1,238 or 45%, of applications stating the county town as their first preferance for accomodation.
Shannon and Clarecastle were the next most sought after destinations, followed by the Lahinch/Ennistymon/Inagh area.
The vast majority of applications countywide were for 1 and 2 bed homes, with 2,207 families seeking a property of this kind, 80% of the overall total.
3-beds were the second most in demand homes, with 430 such applications received.
Of the overall demand for social housing, 1,262 families are in receipt of either the Housing Assistance Payment or the Rental Accommodation Scheme.
