A Sixmilebridge shop owner says there’s a ‘need’ for the State’s energy supports for businesses to be extended beyond the end of this month.

There are concerns that a low uptake of the scheme by businesses here may see the Government review the need to maintain the Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme beyond February.

329 Clare businesses have availed of the scheme so far since it was introduced in the Budget.

Flora Crowe of Crowe’s shop in Sixmilebridge, whose latest electricity bill has totalled 14,000 euro, says any local enterprise not availing of the initiative should consider doing so.
