The sounds of risen paddles and banging gavels will fall silent in Sixmilebridge as the the Auction Room is set to close its doors for the final time next month.
After three decades in business at the former Barron’s Hall, the South East Clare saleroom will be holding its last ever in-person auction in November, following the sale of the unit to a supermarket chain.
Auctioneer Aidan Foley has this week alone agreed the sales of 2,000 lots of items including furniture, Persian carpets, Irish art, Waterford glass, silver and jewellery.
Although, some items are more on the peculiar side, he says a unique fish was probably the strangest.
