Sisters Of Mercy To Leave Spanish Point Convent

After more than 90 years, the Sisters of Mercy are leaving their Spanish Point Convent.

The Sisters arrived in the West Clare seaside village in 1929, and soon set up St. Joseph’s Secondary School.

This Sunday, local community members will take part in a drive-by farewell, in the absence of being able to say goodbye in a more typical fashion.

Former principal of St Joseph’s, Mary Crawford, says it will be emotional for the Sisters to leave.
