SIPTU Warns Of Impending Strike At Shannon, Dublin And Cork

SIPTU says a strike at Aer Lingus is now highly likely – and could impact thousands of passengers at Shannon, Cork and Dublin Airports in the build-up to St. Patrick's Day.

Staff at the airline and state airports have voted in favour of industrial action as part of a row over their collective pension fund, and the union admits strikes are likely in the week before the National Holiday.

Aer Lingus has appealed for the union to pull back from the threat of industrial action – which it says won't solve the row – while Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has urged all sides to re-enter talks
