SIPTU says members of Clare Fire Service have been forced to consider resorting to strike action in an attempt to resolve ongoing issues with the local authority.
The dispute has stemmed from the perceived failure of Clare County Council management to formulate proposals to address the recruitment and retention crisis affecting the service.
The union served the council with a two-week written notice, which expires today, warning that unless a solution could be found, members in the retained fire service would be balloted for industrial and strike action.
