Sinn Fein’s Mary Lou McDonald says Mr Conlon tried to frustrate the member’s efforts to get to the bottom of the scandal of top up’s at the clinic, after it emerged that €742,000 was taken from a CRC charity fund to pay for the pension of a former Chief Executive.

The HSE says it may now look for the help of the Gardaí in investigating the matter. It will also attempt to recover some of the money, while former CEO Paul Kiely will also be called back before the committee.
