A Clare Sinn Féin Dáil hopeful is insisting that the current government has done nothing but drive Ireland’s homeless figures up.
Sinn Féin is tabling its motion of no confidence in Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy today, calling for him to be sacked from Cabinet, amid claims he’s incapable of solving the crisis.
The party is claiming that overall homeless levels have risen by 20% under the Minister’s watch, while child and pensioner homelessness levels have soared by 25% and 40% respectively.
Minister Murphy’s expected to survive the vote, as Fianna Fáil are due to abstain, but Ballyvaughan native, Noeleen Moran, who’s one of two candidates representing Sinn Féin in the next election, says a shift in mindset is urgently needed.
