Sinn Féin Representative Calls For Affordable Childcare To Help Working Mothers

A Clare Sinn Féin Dáil hopeful claims it’s beyond belief that a century on from the fight for women’s rights, working mothers are struggling to pay for childcare.

It comes as the Childcare Support Bill passes through the Oireachtas, leading to lively debate on supports for working parents.

A survey by Citrix shows that 3,000 Irish mothers are leaving the workforce annually due to the excessive costs of childcare, and it’s costing Irish companies an estimated €68 million.
