Sinn Féin Condems Racist Comment

Sinn Féin has admitted that a racist comment by the party's former local election candidate in Ennis is a setback for the party in the town.

Cathal O'Reilly posted the anti-traveller statement on Facebook in October 2011, and it's re-emergence over the past day has prompted him to resign from the party.

Cathal O'Reilly says he now wants to move on with his life as a private citizen and is no longer seeking support from Ennis voters, though his name will remain on the ballot paper.
