Sinn Féin Co-Optee Pledges To Fight For “Ignored” South-East Clare

A soon-to-be Clare Sinn Féin councillor says his primary aim while on the local authority will be to develop and maintain the “ignored” south-eastern region of the county.

A Sinn Féin selection convention in Shannon has seen James Ryan unanimously selected to fill the seat on Clare County Council vacated by Donna McGettigan following her election to Dáil Éireann two weeks ago.

The Westbury native, who works as a teacher and artist, ran for the party in June’s Local Elections, receiving 455 first preference votes.

He’s been telling Clare FM’s Seán Lyons he’ll endeavour to tackle the overgrown parts of south-east Clare and look after the needs of its ageing population.
