Sinn Fein's General Election candidate in Clare is backing efforts to have Loop Head granted Gaeltacht status.

Over 2 million euro in funding has seen sought from Government towards the re-development of Coláiste Uí Chomhraidhe in Carrigaholt as part of an overall effort to boost Irish levels in an area where the language was once widely-spoken.
Currently the college offers Irish language classes in June, July and August, but it's hoped this can be expanded to a year round service.
Noeleen Moran says the Sinn Fein party has long been an advocate for the language and will offer any support required to see its revival in Loop Head.
