Sinn Féin Calls for Stay on Home Repossession Cases

Sinn Fein's Finance spokesman says no family homes should be repossessed in Ireland at the moment.

The comments from Pearse Doherty come after 131 applications were made for repossession orders at Ennis Circuit Court last week.

Only one of these was granted, but there have been predictions from the Irish MOrtgage Holders Organisation that the number of applications here could hit 600 by the end of the year.

Deputy Doherty wants the courts to have the final say on a reasonable solution, rather than banks.
