Significant Sum Of Money Stolen In Ennistymon Church Break-In

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a break-in to a North Clare Church overnight.

Thieves gained entry to Ennistymon Church, on the Lahinch Road, sometime between 8pm on Sunday night and 10 o’clock this morning.

A number of doors were damaged and an undisclosed sum of money was stolen from the Trocaire and Easter collections, which were secured in a safe in the sacristy.

The scenes of crime unit has carried out an investigation this morning and Gardaí are reviewing CCTV footage to determine their course of action.

It’s the second break-in to a church in Clare in just over a week, but Inspector Paul Slattery of Kilrush Garda Station has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that he doesn’t believe the incidents are connected:
