Significant Spike In Patients On Trolleys At Region’s Main Hospital

There's been a significant spike in the number of people waiting on trolleys in the emergency department of the region's main hospital.

30 people were waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning.

Figures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show that a further 28 people are being accomodated in overflow areas of wards.

The highest number recorded today was in the emergency department of St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin where 44 people are waiting on trolleys while at Cork University Hospital 38 people are waiting for beds.
