Over 320,000 euro in parking fines has been collected by Clare County Council in the past four years.
The local authority has revealed that the majority of the fines are issued in Ennis.
In March 2017, a new ticketing system was introduced in Clare and since then, more than 2,000 tickets have been issued to motorists here.
The total money collected in parking fines in Clare last year amounted to €78,413.
While it’s down €10,000 on the figure from three years previously, it’s still a major rise on the fine of the year before.
In 2014, around €88,000 in fines were issued – this dipped to €83,000 in 2015 and dropped significantly to €70,000 in 2016 before the increase last year.
Over half of those were issued in Ennis, with Lahinch and the Doolin Pier Car Park the next busiest for fines.
Non payment of parking fees accounted for 1,300 tickets, while parking in a prohibited place saw 260 tickets issued.
A further 96 were issued to drivers who had parked in a disabled spot without displaying a valid disabled persons permit.
