‘Significant Reductions’ In Scheduled Care At UHL Due To High ED Attendances

Significant reductions in scheduled care are to impact the region’s main hospital this week as it continues to manage high volumes of attendances.

It’s after 118 patients were recorded on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 72 of those in the Emergency Department.

The UL Hospitals Group says it’s raised its escalation level at University Hospital Limerick and deferred all but ‘the most time critical’ elective activity at UHL both tomorrow and Wednesday.

Almost all elective surgical procedures, outpatient appointments and diagnostic investigations are deferred on those days, with patients impacted to be contacted directly.

Elective day surgery is also to be affected at Ennis, Nenagh and St John’s, with some patients to have their procedures deferred on Tuesday and Wednesday.
