Significant Number Of Homes And Businesses In South East Clare Without Water

Irish Water says repair works on a burst water main in South East Clare could take some time to complete.

A significant number of homes and businesses in the Parteen and surrounding areas have been left without supply since the early hours of yesterday morning.

Crews have isolated the burst section of pipe and are working to reroute water around the network to provide supply to as many customers as possible.

The vast majority are expected to have a partial supply restored over the coming hours, but pressure may be lower than normal, particularly in properties at higher elevations.

Alternative water supplies are being made available at Lackyle Housing Estate, Ardnacrusha and at Westbury Shopping Centre until 3 o’clock this afternoon.

Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Cathal Crowe believes up to 500 premises have been affected:

Irish water says due to the nature of the burst and its location on a main road, a full repair may take some time to complete.

Any customers who are still without water are being advised to contact the Irish Water customer care line at 1850 278 278 so that any localised issues can be investigated and alternative water supplies provided if required.

Irish Water has apologised for any inconvenience as a result of this issue and is assuring customers that crews are working as a matter of priority to resolve the matter.
