Significant Jump In Overcrowding At UHL And Number Of Covid Patients Also Spikes

The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has jumped significantly over the weekend.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows there were 104 patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, with 65 of those on trolleys in the Emergency Department.

It comes as the number of covid positive patients at the Dooradoyle facility has jumped by a fifth.

There were 64 patients with the virus in the hospital this morning, up from 53 on Friday.

The number being treated in the ICU has doubled to 6 over the same period.
