Ennis’ Derelict Hospital Could Provide Answer To Homelessness Crisis

There’s been a significant jump in the number of homeless people in Clare.

Figures revealed at a special housing meeting of Clare County Council show there are now 51 adults in emergency accommodation in this county – up from 42 at the end of July – while there are also 44 children in this situation.

The local authority is seeking to acquire a property to operate as short stay accommodation as one of a number of measures to tackle the crisis and is now looking at the prospect of developing the derelict site of Our Lady’s Hospital in Ennis.
