Plans are afoot to provide significant investment at the Cliffs of Moher this year with a view to slowing down the visitor experience there.

Management at the Cliffs of Moher are implementing measures to ensure more of its 1.6 million visitors a year spend even more time in Clare.

Bus companies who are looking to bring new services to the Cliffs are being told that they now also must bring tourists to another fee-paying attraction in Clare, and stay overnight here, and arrive at off-peak times.

The move is being implemented to ease congestion at peak times in particular.

Acting Director of the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience, Donnacha Lynch says it’s crucial going forward that we retain the bus loads of people coming to this county.

Meanwhile, there are also plans afoot for significant investment at the Cliffs of Moher.

As visitor numbers have grown at a significant rate over recent years, Clare County Council Director of Services Leonard Cleary, who is also a Board Member at the Visitor Centre, admits they need to be able to cater for the demand.
