The number of people claiming unemployment benefit in the county is continuing to fall on a monthly basis.
The latest figures from the Central Statistics office show that below 4,800 people were on Clare’s Live Register in June.
A total of 4,777 people were claiming social welfare supports in Clare last month, a reduction of just 15 from the figure recorded in May.
Once again the government office in Ennis saw the lion’s share of presentations, with 2,338 individuals availing of unemployment benefit in the county town.
The second largest cohort joined the dole queues in North Clare, with 1,027 signing on in Ennistymon.
In West Clare, meanwhile 728 were on the Live register last month, with a further 640 people receiving their payments in Tulla.
Notably the number of Under 25’s claiming unemployment benefit in the county has fallen by 15% since the beginning of the year, from 573 in January to 490 at the end of June.
