Significant Drop In Unemployment In Clare ‘Inevitable’

The President of Ennis Chamber says it’s inevitable that unemployment figures in Clare will drop significantly again this year.

It comes as the latest live register figures from the CSO show that there’s just over 5,000 people signing on in this county now.

That figure dipped below the 5,000 mark in October for the first time in a decade but despite the monthly rise of 200, it’s still a thousand less than a year ago.

Last month, North Clare saw an extra 80 people signing on, 49 joined the dole queues in Ennis – in the west of the county, numbers were up by 37 and in the East, 29 additional people are now claiming some form of unemployment benefit.
