Figures published by the Private Residential Tenancies Board show that the average price paid for rental properties in Clare last year fell by €1 to €511.
However, a further analysis of the statistics shows that rents in Shannon are significantly higher than this, at €570.
Killaloe and Newmarket-on–Fergus follow closely with typical rents of €568, while rents average out at €552 euro in Sixmilebridge.
The figure for Ennis is in line with the county figure, while the lowest rents in Clare of €425 are recorded in Kilrush.
The PRTB's figures also outline the average prices paid for various types of properties, and find detached homes generally fetch €550 while apartments garner€ 470.
