Short-Term Lets ‘Must Not Play Havoc’ On Clare’s Rental Market

A North Clare Sinn Féin local election hopeful is calling on Clare County Council to ensure that short-term holidays lets don’t continue to play havoc with the rental market.

New rules being introduced from June 1st to address the issue with short term lettings means local authorities will have the power to take back houses not purpose-built as holiday homes, for the long-term rental market.

Noeleen Moran says it’s vital that this change is utilised here in Clare to ensure that an overreliance on the likes of Air Bnb by those with multiple homes doesn’t drive up the county’s average rent any more.
