Shannon Airport has welcomed IAG's proposed takeover of Aer Lingus.
It follows the government's decision to sell off its 25% stake in the airline in a deal worth €355 million.
Shannon Airport Chairman Rose Hynes says it's good news, which safeguards Shannon-Heathrow connectivity for seven years, and opens the door for further growth at Shannon.
Shannon Chamber has also welcomed the guarantees, but President Kevin Thompstone feels the time frame of the Heathrow commitment is short.
TDs will begin a two-day debate on the sale later.
The agreement comes after IAG offered extra assurances about the use of Heathrow, and also promises that it would create over 600 jobs by the year 2020.
A vote on the sale will be held in the Dáil tomorrow.
