But Clare County Council is warning of increased levels this evening and tonight as a yellow weather alert remains in place across the country with up to 25 millimetres of rain forecast between now and midnight.

The Local Authority, assisted by Clare Civil Defence and The Defence Forces, is maintaining a 24-hour presence to assist residents affected by flooding and to respond to any additional impact.

Almost 5,000 sandbags have been installed in the Springfield area so far to assist residents of up to 15 properties while up to 30 pumps are operating in the area.

The ESB is maintaining the flow of water from Parteen Weir at 470 cubic metres per second again today but the situation will be reviewed again tomorrow.
