Shannon Town Council is being urged to take a tougher stance on glass litter louts.
Its claimed more and more people are dumping bottles on footpaths and other common areas posing a health hazard for both residents and pets.
Local Election Candidate Noel Mc Namara says in some cases the glass is maliciously smashed with the intention of causing injury.
He’s calling on the local authority to step up efforts to clamp down on this type of littering and impose large fines on culprits
