Shannon Tidy Towns is confident having a designated area for local election posters will create a “level playing field” for candidates.
On the local branch’s suggestion, Shannon Municipal District has voted by a majority of six to one to create designated sites in the town where posters can be hung for the upcoming Local Elections.
The move is aimed at promoting sustainability, reducing visual impact, preventing litter and encouraging equal canvassing opportunities for all candidates.
Shannon Tidy Towns Chair, Derek Clune says once the right site is chosen, new candidates will have the same chance of getting their message out there as already serving councillors.
