Shannon Tidy Towns has condemned an incident of “wanton vandalism”.
It’s after the brick paving of the town park’s iconic bandstand was dismantled during an episode of anti-social behaviour this week.
The damage has since been repaired, with some of the bricks recovered on the green and others from a nearby pond.
Shannon Tidy Towns Chair Derek Clune says the incident was very disheartening.
Local Councillor Tony Mulcahy, meanwhile, has slammed suggestions the behaviour has anything to do with a lack of youth amenities.
