Staff at Shannon Airport have settled their dispute over it’s seperation from the Dublin Airport Authority.
Workers, who had concerns over their future terms and conditions under the newly independent Shannon Airport Authority, have now received written assurances about their futures from the Minister of Transport, who held face to face talks with union representatives earlier this week.
Around 200 SIPTU members had voted in favour of industrial action if this had not occured.
The decision by staff now paves the way for Shannon to be established on an independent basis from January, but SIPTU Sector Organiser says workers will still be bringing some concerns into the New Year.
Meanwhile, the appointment of Rose Hynes as the new chairperson of the Shannon Airport Authority has been confirmed.
The North Clare woman headed up the Aviation Business Development Task Force established to assist in the seperation of Shannon.
She also previously served as a director of the Shannon Airport Authority from 2003 to 2008.
