A Shannon soccer club is urging parents to educate their children on anti-social behaviour, after damage was caused to a tractor and their pitches.

Shannon Hibernians is a voluntary organisation which relies on funding contributions from the public and it provides facilities for children aged four, all the way up to adult teams.

Over the weekend, entry was gained to their facilities, with considerable damage caused to a tractor used for cutting grass and a lawnmower, with diesel and petrol also poured around the pitches.

Shannon Hibernian Committee member, Aaron Leahy, says the incident will put a considerable financial burden on the club and they may have to postpone games over being unable to cut grass.
