The union which represents Shannon Airport staff who are embroiled in a row over their pensions, estimates workers there are facing a shortfall of up to 1.5 million euro.
SIPTU members at Shannon, Cork and Dublin Airports and at Aer Lingus are to hold a ballot on industrial action, as they fear a shortfall in their schemes could see them left out of pocket to the tune of thousands of euro.
The union says the companies are refusing to engage in meaningful talks, and warn that any strikes could lead to significant disruption for passengers.
