Shannon restrictions lifted but most flights grounded for the day

Transatlantic travel from Shannon and Dublin will resume this afternoon but all other commerical flights remain grounded at the moment.

Restrictions at Shannon and Cork were eased overnight and are now being lifted in Dublin to allow Aer Lingus flights to New York Chicago and Boston.

The 12.30 Shannon to Boston flight will go ahead but the New York service from the Mid West is cancelled.

Aer Lingus and Ryanair called all its morning UK and European flights and even with the lifting of restricitons at Shannon, due to logistical problems its unlikely any of the scheduled flights for the afternoon will take off.

However intending passengers are being urged to contact their airline for further information.

And with airspace restrictiosn in the UK set to remain in place until 1 am tomorrow ..there’s no end in sight for massvie flight disruption.
