Shannon recorded the highest commercial vacancy rate of any town in Ireland in June.
The latest GeoDirectory report shows Clare’s countywide vacancy rate came in higher than the national average.
Clare’s 16% commercial vacancy rate was the eighth highest in the country for June of this year.
Despite this coming in 0.2% lower than December 2025, it was still higher than both the national average of 14.5% and the provincial average of 14.4%.
Commercial vacancy rates in Shannon have increased by 4.1% since last year and 0.5% from December 2025, meaning at 34.9%, it remains the town with the highest vacancy rate nationwide.
Kilrush saw a slight decline in vacancy rate falling by 1.1% to 23.2%, however the west Clare town still ranked as the town with the 13th most empty commercial properties in Ireland.
Ennis ranked the lowest for commercial vacancy rates in Clare in June, with 17.8% of all commercial properties vacant, 1.3% lower than 2025.
