A Shannon pharmacist is calling on the Government to abolish prescription charges for medical card holders.
Shane Hillery’s comments come after the Health Minister this week signed into law a change which will see the levy reduced from €2.50 to €2 in the New Year.

However, when the fee for medical card holders was first introduced it was just 50 cent per prescription.
Mr Hillery, of RX+ Total Health Pharmacy in Shannon, believes Budget 2018 should have gone further in eliminating the cost:
