Shannon Parish Priest Down Plays Suggestions On Suspending Sign Of Peace

The Parish Priest of Shannon has played down suggestions that the sign of peace handshake should be suspended.

It comes as the Catholic Bishop of Cork and Ross has written to 150 priests in 68 parishes to suspend the gesture during masses and religious ceremonies, amid concerns over a new strain of the flu virus that’s hit Ireland.

It follows a similar move in the Diocese of Down and Connor in the North last week.
