A support group described as a “haven” for Shannon parents has received a welcome boost.
The Parenting Peer Support Group has secured €5,000 in national funding which will help the group further support parents across the community and enable the centre to expand and enhance its programme through 2026.

The support group meets monthly at the Shannon Family Resource centre and is open to parents in the Shannon, Newmarket and Fergus, Cratloe and Sixmilebridge areas.
Leah McNamara, who’s among those who attend the group, says it’s a comforting outlet to help parents feel less isolated.
