Shannon has been labelled the county’s “cash cow that never gets the just reward”.
Clare County Council’s roads maintenance budget for this year has seen the Shannon Municipal District’s funding allocation slashed by 7% to €2.92 million.

It means Clare’s second most populated municipal district accounts for just 10% of the overall budget.
Newmarket-on-Fergus Fianna Fáil Councillor David Griffin says it’s unacceptable that the “thriving economic base” has seen its funding cut.
