Shannon Heritage workers are staging a walkout protest this lunchtime because of what they say is a lack of progress on transferring the site’s management to Clare County Council.
Negotiations between the local authority, several Government departments and the Shannon Airport Group are ongoing, with discussions having hit an impasse regarding the Council’s asking price to accommodate the transfer.
Both Council and Government sources are ‘hopeful’ of the move being completed by the end of the year, but seasonal workers are concerned about their fate during the traditional tourism lull of January to March.
