Shannon Heritage staff say they’ve been assured the process to transfer the management of its sites to Clare County Council will take ‘weeks rather than months’.
Workers met with Minister of State at the Department of Transport Jack Chambers when he visited Clare last week, with negotiations on the transfer understood to have progressed positively recently.
The Government is believed to be close to finalising an enhanced funding offer to enable the Council to take control of the sites.
Shannon Heritage site worker Caroline O’ Sullivan says the meeting with the Minister of State was positive and further clarity would be a boost.
