Shannon Heritage has been called on to review its plan to close Bunratty Castle and Folk Park at the end of August, just six weeks after it’s due to open.

The Clare tourist attraction, along with Limerick’s King John’s Castle are re-opening on July 20th, while Shannon Group’s retail outlet at the Cliffs of Moher also due to re-open in consultation with Clare County Council.

But their other tourist sites Craggaunowen and Knappogue will remain closed, and both Bunratty and King John’s are poised to close again from August 31st.

Clare Sinn Féin TD Violet Ann Wynne believes the decision to only open Bunratty for such a short period isn’t in line with the Government’s plan to ease restrictions.
