The Head of Shannon Airport has expressed confidence in a return to profitability next year, and says he’s “stopped the rot” in terms of passenger numbers. Neil Pakey was addressing members of Shannon Chamber of Commerce as he announced new appointments to the Shannon Group – the overall body which will independently run the Airport, Property Assets in the Free Zone, Shannon Heritage Sites and the new International Avaitation Services Centre. The appointments will see current Shannon Airport Director Mary Considine take up the role of Company Secretary of the new Shannon Group while aviation strategist Patrick Edmond takes responsibility for the new aviation centre. Speaking to Clare FM, Mr Pakey said he’s continuing to focus on growing passenger numbers further and a return to ending the airports financial losses.
