Shannon Group is warning that it needs an urgent decision from government on whether it will receive funding to allow it keep Bunratty and King John’s Castles open.
The sites are poised to close from the end of this month, unless the government gives the green light on Shannon’s request for €6.4 million in funding that it says it needs to keep the sites operating until June.
Shannon Group says its priority is to protect the business, and the jobs of its staff – SIPTU has previously warned that 60 full-time roles are under threat because of the COVID-related issues facing Shannon Heritage.
A decision is expected from the Department of Public Expenditure within days, but Shannon Group CEO Mary Considine says time is of the essence.
