The Chair of Shannon Group is confident that traffic at Shannon Airport can still be restored to pre-pandemic levels within the coming three years, despite emerging concern over the latest covid variant.

Pádraig O’Ceidigh says that while there was worry within the industry initially about stricter rules on travel, the introduction of compulsary antigen or PCR testing is broadly welcomed by the aviation sector.

The Aer Arann Founder and former Senator is also “comfortable” that the potential introduction of mandatory hotel quaratine won’t have a significant impact on Shannon, as most of it’s traffic is to and from the UK and North America.

Accepting the role of Shannon Group Chair in September, Padraig O’Ceidigh said he sees traffic returning to pre-pandemic levels within his three year term, and he insists that while the recovery is slower than hoped, they’re still going in the right direction.
