Transport Minister Shane Ross has revealed that Shannon Airport is facing a €10 million bill that will present what he calls “significant difficulties” for the group.
Minister Ross has told the Dáil the the money must be spent to upgrade equipment to allow the airport comply with revised screening standards that relate to baggage in the hold.

It is mandatory for all airports, and work is need to be completed before September 2020.
Shannon says the costs will be met from within its own resources, and the Minister is warning that it’s an issue the Airport itself will have to overcome.
