Shannon will be decking the halls this evening as their Christmas lights will be turned on.
The event gets underway in the Town Park at 5:30pm with the lead up to the countdown, then the night concludes with choir music and a visit from Mr and Mrs Claus.
The Cathaoirleach of the Shannon Municipal District, Donna McGettigan has the role of switching on the Christmas Lights for what she hopes will become an annual event in the town.
