Shannon Councillor Wants To Know How Irish Rail Will Deal With Flooding

A Shannon Councillor is seeking immediately clarification from Iarnrod Eireann on plans to deal with flooding on the Ennis to Limerick rail line. 

A section of track remains underwater at Ballycar, Newmarket-on-Fergus following the heavy rain of recent months, with shuttle buses continuing the operate along the route.

Sinn Fein's Mike McKee says an immediate strategy needs to be set out by the rail company on how to avoid similar problems in the future. 

He says the current situation is not only inconvenient for commuters, but costly to the taxpayer.
